Lunch at the Fireside Restaurant

We were one and a half couple that celebrated their anniversaries and we decided to do that at the brand new addition to the FDR Park

With a fantastic view over the Friar Straits towards Eastport, ME
the restaurant is located in the former Adam's Lodge, also known as the former "Lupine Lodge".
We had made reservation for a window seating - that was worth while,
because there are only two tables with this view.
That was the view from "our table"
Medium price range, good food and excellent service.
My choice: Tomato bisque and a Lobster wrap
For dessert: New York cheese cake with chocolate sauce.
I was just so sorry that my dear hubby couldn't join us.

This is definitely a very good addition to the attractions on Campobello Island.

The Season is officially opened!

What's up on this side of the country? Finally spring arrived and with that the season 2014 is officially opened.

This weekend the Roosevelt Campobello International Park is again open to the public. Admission is free. Check out the link to their website that shows a very nice, new layout for the occasion.

This year is special because
The Roosevelt Campobello International Park is celebrating its 50th anniversary!
1964 - 2014
Congratulations!
The FDR cottage
The weather was a bit on the chilly side when at 10 AM many inhabitants and business owners from the island as well as several guests and representatives of the foundation had gathered in front of the information centre.
Speeches were hold, the anthems sung and both the flags were heist.

Afterwards everyone piled inside to partake in the celebration with cake and coffee.
Now that that is done, let us hope that there will be many guests to welcome during a busy summer season!
