That's what happened to me yesterday.
I was about to call someone when my Skype was terminated. The message said clearly that I had to download a new version because I was using an old one which they don't support anymore.
OK, I trashed all traces of the old version and downloaded the new.
Upon trying to sign in it stopped up again with the notion:
We have signed you out because you are using
an outdated version of skype.
I thought first that I made a mistake and deleted the new download again. Restarted the computer and downloaded the new version
a second time.
Same result.
I found out that many other people have the same problem.
The thing is that my MAC is too old,
it is not compatible with the new Skype versions.
A support helper told me to go and get
an update for my MAC.
Huh!
There are no updates for a 10.5.8 any more.
The end of it is:
If I want Skype I need to buy a new computer.
That's a way of making more profit.
"I am very sorry for the inconvenience this causes for you."
Sorry my foot!
I quote the Queen on that:
I AM NOT PLEASED!
NOT AT ALL!
We have not used skype for years, since gmail came out with google chat and google phone, so much easier and less expensive as well.
ReplyDeleteMy Mac is early 2009 OSX 10.9.4 and no problems.
Google phone should work for you.
But I cannot talk to those who have a Skype account. We all would have to move to Google, or?
DeleteBut thanks George, I will have a look at Google phone.
Google+ has something like skype, called Hangout. It's free and up to 10 people can chat at the same time.....
ReplyDeleteMmh, looks like I have to look into that Google thing......
ReplyDeleteWell, that's a bummer! Sometimes I LOVE the upgrades, and sometimes I wish they would just leave things alone. If it's working, don't fix it! I hope you solve this - maybe the Google+ will be a good solution. :)
