A Norwegian Visitor

It was about fourteen years that we had seen each other last time. 

Last Saturday I picked up my Norwegian friend Gunn 

at the airport in St. John, NB.

On our way back to Campobello, we stopped to see the "Reversing Falls" in St. John. An impressive show of the tidal currents.

The four days flew bye. We managed to visit the Roosevelt Park, the Beaches and Harbours of the Island.

We enjoyed an afternoon in St. Andrews-by-the-sea, NB.

Gunn was impressed about the difference in the tide.
Some times the boats are on the bottom of the wharf,
some times they are way up.

There was the rose garden of my Canadian fiend Rogette to explore.To her delight we found a snake skin (Garder Snake)

 On the last day we took another tour up to the light house
and got some gorgeous views of the sunset.

All in all - we had a great time together.

I AM NOT PLEASED

That's what happened to me yesterday. 

I was about to call someone when my Skype was terminated. The message said clearly that I had to download a new version because I was using an old one which they don't support anymore.

OK, I trashed all traces of the old version and downloaded the new. 

Upon trying to sign in it stopped up again with the notion: 

We have signed you out because you are using 

an outdated version of skype.

I thought first that I made a mistake and deleted the new download again. Restarted the computer and downloaded the new version

a second time.

Same result.

I found out that many other people have the same problem.

The thing is that my MAC is too old, 

it is not compatible with the new Skype versions. 

A support helper told me to go and get 

an update for my MAC.

Huh!

There are no updates for a 10.5.8 any more.

The end of it is:

If I want Skype I need to buy a new computer.

That's a way of making more profit.

NOT AT ALL!

Changes, always changes

Changes can be sad ones and happy ones.

The other day I rode my bicycle along the water and "lo and behold" they did sell the property and someone plans to build some structure on it.

I was sad because we never will see this view again.

The good news is more of practical nature.

I have always wanted a screened door for the cellar. That way I would be able to leave the door open all day and air the basement without critters having access to it.
I discussed that with Susan and Miada the other day. No problem, they just built themselves a new door for their mini barn.

I had the material and they had the tools out. Half an hours work and
I got my door. Thanks, friends!!!

That's done and now it is time for a dog, specifically a "Sea Dog"....

and a good look at the moon. There are even the craters visible today!

Don't sit here!

That was the sign we had on our IKEA recliner for over a year(!). 

Why's that?

Look and you will understand. 

Quite hazardous to try to relax in that chair. 

Now, since my dear upholsterer/carpenter is far, far away, 

a repair in the near future is not in sight, 

but a visitor is already "on the horizon". 

(Not that we only own that one chair! ;)

What to do? 

DIY! Right.

Among the good things in our small community is 

that there always is someone around who is willing 

to lend a helping hand. 

I asked my employer if I possibly could borrow 

his staple gun for that project.

Not a problem.

And today I tackled the chair.

Tadaaaa! Big smile. 

That is finding happiness in small things.

If I had know how easy that was, 

it could have been done at least a year ago! 

Well, it is never too late, isn't it?

And now the visitor may come.
